Starfall: Where Kids Have Fun Learning to Read

Miss Barbara recommends the Web site Starfall: Where Kids Have Fun Learning to Read for preschool-second grade. This site is full of early literacy games and activities including word games, alphabet games, tongue twisters, and poetry. There is even a section featuring famous artists and musicians! Hear their music or see their artwork and learn more about their lives. No annoying pop-ups or ads. According to their website, the Polis-Schutz family who created Starfall, is passionate about making the world a better place, and is thrilled to have the opportunity to use the Internet to help children learn to read.

Punky Doodle's Coloring Club & Funhouse

Punky Doodle's Coloring Club & Funhouse was created by Nancy L. Herndon-Robinson and Gary L. Robinson and is based on a cartoon version of their cat, Punky Doodle. It's a bright, colorful Web site that features puzzles, jokes, games, stories and coloring sheets. When you go to the home page, music will begin playing, and I couldn't find any way to turn the music off, which I found annoying. The rest of the Web site, though, is great. You could spend hours having fun on just one page of this Web site!
